Some practice 10mark questions for after a guilty verdict

Here's some practice questions you could use to help you revise:

1. Outline one piece of research into the role of prisons (10 marks)
2. How can probation be used as an alternative to imprisonment? (10 marks)
3. Outline how cognitive skills programmes can be used as an offender treatment programme (10 marks)
4. Evaluate research into the effectiveness of offender treatment programmes (15)
5. How useful is research into imprisonment? (15)
6. Evaluate alternatives to imprisonment (15)

  2. For "How useful is research into imprisonment?" would you choose 3 evaluative issues, e.g. reliability etc. and then choose studies to back up your point? As that's what my teacher said to do, but I never trust my teacher! How would you structure it? :)

    1. Yeah that's a good way to approach it. Typically for usefulness I'd suggest internal validity, reliability, and external validity, and link these to some others issues if I could.
